Tooth Whitening Specialist
Often discoloration of your teeth occurs because the dentin, or the darker tissue of your teeth, becomes exposed as the outer layer of enamel is worn away. This wearing away of the enamel is typically caused by aging, but can be expedited through such things as caffeine consumption and smoking or chewing tobacco products.
But, thanks to our team of specialists in teeth whitening, you no longer have to live with the embarrassment of stained and discolored teeth. With just a quick visit to PicMed, you’ll soon see why so many people are smiling.
After making yourself comfy in our chair, we’ll place protective coverings over your lips and gums. Then we’ll apply the medical strength whitening gel to your teeth. The active ingredient in the gel is a pH-balanced hydrogen peroxide. A special low-heat light will activate the gel. It will penetrate the enamel and dentin in your teeth to remove deep stains and discoloration.
Many patients report that whitening has made their teeth six to eight shades whiter. Some have even said that their smile became brighter days after their appointment. More importantly, the results lasted for years
Even the healthiest eater can benefit from tooth whitening, as stained teeth can plague anyone. This is because protein naturally attracts food particles to a tooth’s enamel. Such food and beverages as coffee, tea, berries and soy sauce are notorious for staining teeth. Consuming these foods over time causes the teeth to actually become more absorbent, and thus vulnerable, to staining.
Although some commercially available “whitening toothpastes” can be somewhat effective at removing stains and making your teeth a few shades brighter, they simply cannot be compared to the professional difference of professional in office teeth whitening. In fact, one of the main problems of these over-the-counter cures is they contain abrasive substances that can actually wear away your tooth’s enamel – the root cause of teeth staining! In order to have your teeth whitened in a safe and effective way, you need PicMed’s tooth whitening.
Another common do-it-yourself remedy to tooth stains is bleaching agents. Although bleaching agents can actually change the color of your teeth, unlike teeth whitening, they are only effective on certain types of stains. For example, bleaching agents have a tough time removing brownish and gray stains. More so, these products are not nearly as effective on pitted and badly discolored teeth as actually undergoing a professional teeth whitening. In other words, to get the job done right, you need the professional services of PicMed.
Professional whitening is considered to be one of the most effective and safest methods for removing unsightly tooth stains. Done properly, teeth whitening will last as long as five years.
